            guyftes wherew<ex>i</ex>th the bountyfull hande of goddes devyne ma<ex>jes</ex>tie hathe indewed <lb/>
            yo<ex>u</ex>r ma<ex>jes</ex>tie, as in the depth of yo<ex>u</ex>r provident Iudgment, wee doubte not but you foresee <lb/>
            what concerneth both the spyrituall and temporall goverment of all your  <lb/>
            kingdoms and domynyons Notw<ex>i</ex>thstandinge, yo<ex>u</ex>r graces most afflicted <lb/>
            subiect<ex>es</ex> and devoted s<ex>e</ex>rvant<ex>es</ex>, the Catholiques of England, partelie to  <lb/>
            p<ex>re</ex>sent synister informac<ex>i</ex>ons w<ex>hi</ex>ch happelie maie possesse yo<ex>u</ex>r sacred eares, <lb/>
            before o<ex>u</ex>r aunswere be harde, p<ex>ar</ex>telie, as men, almost overwhelmed w<ex>i</ex>th <lb/>
            p<ex>er</ex>secuc<ex>i</ex>ons for o<ex>u</ex>r conscience, wee are inforced to haue speedie recourse <lb/>
            in hope of speedie reliefe from yo<ex>u</ex>r highnes, And to p<ex>re</ex>sent theese humble <lb/>
            lynes vnto yo<ex>u</ex>r Roiall p<ex>er</ex>son, to pleade for vs some com<ex>m</ex>yserac<ex>i</ex>on and favour / <lb/>
            Alas what alleageance can any temporall prince desier or expecte at <lb/>
            his vassall<ex>es</ex> handes, w<ex>hi</ex>ch wee are not addressed to p<ex>er</ex>forme/ Howe manie <lb/>
            noble men, and worthie gentlemen most zealous in the Catholique religion, <lb/>
            haue indured, som<ex>m</ex>e losse of land<ex>es</ex> and lyving<ex>es</ex>, some exile, some ymprisonment, <lb/>
            for yo<ex>u</ex>r blessed mothers right vnto the Septer of Albion, Naye, whose <lb/>
            fynger did ever ake, but Catholiques for yo<ex>u</ex>r ma<ex>jes</ex>t<ex>ies</ex> p<ex>re</ex>sent title and dominion, <lb/>
            howe many fleed to yo<ex>u</ex>r Courte, offeringe them selves as hostages for <lb/>
            theire frendes, to lyve and die in yo<ex>u</ex>r ma<ex>jes</ex>t<ex>ies</ex> quarrell, yf ever adversarie had <lb/>
            opposed hymself against the equitie of yo<ex>u</ex>r cause, yf this they attempted <lb/>
            w<ex>i</ex>th theire princes disgrace, to obteine yo<ex>u</ex>r ma<ex>jes</ex>t<ex>ies</ex> grace, what will they <lb/>
            doe, naye what will they not doe, to lyve w<ex>i</ex>thout disgrace in yo<ex>u</ex>r graces <lb/>
            favor, <supplied reason="damage">the many</supplied> of this <supplied reason="damage">Realme yf</supplied> wee respecte Religion, (settinge pettie <lb/>
            sectes aside) consisteth vpon fowre p<ex>ar</ex>tes, Protestant<ex>es</ex>, whoe haue <lb/>
            dominyred all the former Queenes daies) Purytant<ex>es</ex>, whoe haue <lb/>
            crept vpp apace amongest them, Athiest<ex>es</ex>, or polliticians, whoe <lb/>
            were bred vpon theire brawles and contenc<ex>i</ex>ons in matters of faithe, <lb/>

            And Catholiques, whoe as they are opposite to all, soe are they detested <lb/>
            of all, because error was ever an enymy to truthe. Hardlie all, or any <lb/>
            twoe of <del rend="strikethrough">of</del> the first three, can be suppressed, and therefore wee beseeche <lb/>
            yo<ex>u</ex>r ma<ex>jes</ex>tie to yelde vs as muche favour, as others of contra<add place="above">r</add>ie religion, <lb/>
            To what shalbe publiquelie p<ex>ro</ex>fessed in England, shall obteyne at yo<ex>u</ex>r <lb/>
            hand<ex>es</ex>, For yf o<ex>u</ex>r faulte be lyke or lesse, or none at all in equitie, our <lb/>
            punyshement ought to be like, lesse, or none at all/ The gates, Arches, <lb/>
            and pyramydes of Fraunce proclaymed the p<ex>re</ex>sent kynge <foreign xml:lang="la">
                    <hi rend="italic">pater patriae <add place="above">pacis</add> <lb/>
            restitutor</hi>
                </foreign>/ Because that kingdome beinge <del rend="strikethrough">willinge</del> wellnigh torne in <lb/>
            peeces w<ex>i</ex>th Civell warres, and made a praie to forreigne foes, was by <lb/>
            his p<ex>ro</ex>vident wysdome and valoure, acquited in <sic>hit</sic> self, and hostile <lb/>
            straungers expelled, the w<ex>hic</ex>h <add place="above">he</add> principallie effected, by condiscendinge <lb/>
            to tollerate them of an adverse Religion to that was openlie p<ex>ro</ex>fessed <lb/>
            Questionlesse, (dreede sou<ex>er</ex>aigne) the kingdome of England by cruell <lb/>
            p<ex>er</ex>secucion of Catholiques, hath bene almost odious to all <ex>Christ</ex>iane nac<ex>i</ex>ons, <lb/>
            Trade, and Traffique, is exceedinglie decaied, warres and bloude <lb/>
            hathe seldome ceassed, Subsidies and Taxes, never soe many, discontent <lb/>
            myndes innumerable, all w<ex>hi</ex>ch yo<ex>u</ex>r ma<ex>jes</ex>t<ex>ies</ex> princelie counten<add place="above">a</add>nce to yo<ex>u</ex>r humble <lb/>
            suppliant<ex>es</ex> the afflicted Catholiques, will easelie redresse, speciallie at

            this yo<ex>u</ex>r highnes first ingresse, <foreign xml:lang="la">
                    <hi rend="italic">Si loquatur ad eos verba levia, erant tibi servi cunctis <lb/>
            dictus</hi>
                </foreign>. And the sage Counsellors of Solomon to Reboam for enlargment after <lb/>
            affliction, resembleth a p<ex>re</ex>sent gale after a vehement tempest and a benyfytt in <lb/>
            distresse doubleth the value thereof/ Howe gratefull will yt be to all <lb/>
            Catholique princes abroade, and honorable be yo<ex>u</ex>r ma<ex>jes</ex>ty to vnderstande, howe Q. E. <lb/>
            severitie is chaunged into yo<ex>u</ex>r Royall clemencye, and that the lenitie of a man, <lb/>
            reedified that, with the mysinformed angre of a woman destroied, That <lb/>
            the Lion Rampant is passant, whereas the passant had some Rampant/ Howe <lb/>
            acceptable shall all yo<ex>u</ex>r subiect<ex>es</ex> be to all Catholique Countries, whoe are <lb/>
            nowe almost abhorred of all, when they shall p<ex>er</ex>ceave yo<ex>u</ex>r highnes p<ex>re</ex>pareth not <lb/>
            pikes and prisons for the p<ex>ro</ex>fessors of theire faieth, but p<ex>er</ex>mytteth them temples <lb/>
            and Altars for the vse of theire religion/ Then wee shall see w<ex>i</ex>th eies, and <lb/>
            touche w<ex>i</ex>th o<ex>u</ex>r fyngers, that happie benedicc<ex>i</ex>on of Esaie in this lande, that <lb/>
            sword<ex>es</ex> are chaunged into ploughes, and launces into Sythes, And all nacions <lb/>
            admiringe vs, will saye, <foreign xml:lang="la">
                    <hi rend="italic">Hi sunt semen cui benedixit dominus</hi>
                </foreign>/ Wee request noe <lb/>
            more favor at yo<ex>u</ex>r graces handes, then that wee maie securelie beleve and <lb/>
            p<ex>ro</ex>fesse that Catholique Religion, w<ex>hi</ex>ch all yo<ex>u</ex>r happie pr<ex>e</ex>decessors p<ex>ro</ex>fessed, <lb/>
            from Dowaldus first converted vnto yo<ex>u</ex>r ma<ex>jes</ex>t<ex>ies</ex> pereles mother last martired. <lb/>
            A Religion most venerable for antiquitie, maiesticall, for amplitude, constant, <lb/>
            for contynuaunce, irrepr<ex>e</ex>hensible for doctrine, indurrynge to all kynde of <lb/>
            vertue and pietie, diswadinge from all sinnes and wickednes, A Religeon beleved <lb/>
            by all primatyve pastors, established by all œconomicall Counsayll<ex>es</ex>, vphelde by <lb/>
            all auncient doctors, maynteyned by the first and best <ex>Christ</ex>ian Emperours, <lb/>
            recorded almost alone in all ecclesiasticall histories, sealed w<ex>i</ex>th the bloud <lb/>
            of myllions of martirs, adorned w<ex>i</ex>th the vertues of soe many confessors, <lb/>
            beautyfied w<ex>i</ex>th the puritie of thowsand<ex>es</ex> of virgins, soe conformable to natural <lb/>
            sence and reason, And finallie soe agreable to godes worde and gospell, the <lb/>
            free vse of this religion wee request, yf not in publique Churches, at <lb/>
            least in private howses, yf not w<ex>i</ex>th approbac<ex>i</ex>on, yet w<ex>i</ex>th tollerac<ex>i</ex>on w<ex>i</ex>thout <lb/>
            malestac<ex>i</ex>on, Assure yo<ex>u</ex>r grace that howsoever some p<ex>ro</ex>testant<ex>es</ex> or puritanes <lb/>
            incited by morall honestie <add place="above">of liefe,</add> or innated instincte of nature, or for feare of some <lb/>
            temporall punyshement, p<ex>re</ex>tende obedience to yo<ex>u</ex>r highnes lawes, yet certenlie, <lb/>
            the onlie Catholiques for conscience <add place="above">sake</add> observe them, for they defendinge that <lb/>
            princes p<ex>re</ex>cept<ex>es</ex> and statut<ex>es</ex>, oblige noe subiect<ex>es</ex> vnder the penaltie of synne, <lb/>
            will lyttle care in conscience to transgresse them, w<ex>hi</ex>ch principally is <lb/>
            tormented w<ex>i</ex>th the guylte of synne, But catholiques confessinge meritt in obeying <lb/>
            and demerite in transgressinge, cannot but in soule be grevouslie touched <lb/>
            for the least p<ex>er</ex>varicac<ex>i</ex>on thereof/ Wherefore most m<ex>er</ex>cifull sou<ex>r</ex>aigne, wee yo<ex>u</ex>r <lb/>
            longe afflicted subiect<ex>es</ex> the Catholiques, in all dutyfull submyssion, p<ex>ro</ex>test before <lb/>
            the ma<ex>jes</ex>tie of god and all his holie Aungell<ex>es</ex>, as loiall obedience, and as ym<ex>m</ex>aculate <lb/>
            alleageaunce vnto yo<ex>u</ex>r grace, as ever did faithfull subiect<ex>es</ex> in England or <lb/>
            Scotland vnto yo<ex>u</ex>r highnes p<ex>ro</ex>genytors, and intend as suerlie w<ex>i</ex>th o<ex>u</ex>r goodes <lb/>
            and lyves to serve you, as ever did the loiallest Isralites, kynge David, or <lb/>
            the trustiest legions, the Romane Emperours/ And thus expectinge  yo<ex>u</ex>r ma<ex>jes</ex>t<ex>ies</ex> <lb/>
            custom<ex>ar</ex>y favor and gracious bountie we rest yo<ex>u</ex>r devout suppliant<ex>es</ex> to hym whose hand <lb/>
