            by vertue of a stat<ex>ute</ex> maide Anno <ex>th</ex>e jst Ed.-2 <lb/>
            putt in execution .1629.
         </head>
         <p>
            1. First vpon <ex>th</ex>e receipt of this our Commission you are to me<supplied reason="damage">et</supplied> <lb/>
            and by y<ex>ou</ex>r joynt consents to aduise &amp; resolue of <ex>th</ex>e fittest <gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            &amp; places &amp; maner for y<ex>ou</ex>r execution of this our Commis<supplied reason="damage">sion</supplied> <lb/>
            w<ex>i</ex>th <ex>th</ex>e most expedition &amp; best aduantage for our s<gap reason="damage"/>    
         </p>
         <p>
            2. Against <ex>th</ex>e time of y<ex>ou</ex>r furth<ex>e</ex>r meetinge you shall vse <gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            best endeauors by y<ex>ou</ex>r selues &amp; others to informe y<ex>ou</ex>r selu<supplied reason="damage">es</supplied> <lb/>
            all <ex>th</ex>e persons, who by <ex>th</ex>e law, or by the Tenor of this <lb/>
            Commission ought to make agree<ex>men</ex>t w<ex>i</ex>th vs for there fines in <lb/>
            case of contempt, &amp; of their estates lying aswell w<ex>i</ex>thin th<gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            as any other Countyes of this Realme./
         </p>
         <p>
            3. To <ex>tha</ex>t end you shall send for <ex>th</ex>e vnd<ex>e</ex>r sheriffe, Escheator &amp; <unclear reason="damage">s</unclear>
                <gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            of <ex>th</ex>e County, for <ex>th</ex>e high Constables, &amp; Bayliffs, petty Con<supplied reason="damage">stables</supplied> <lb/>
            &amp; such others as in y<ex>ou</ex>r Iugdments, yee thinke fittest to giue <lb/>
            true informaton herein. All w<ex>hi</ex>ch or as many of them as y<supplied reason="damage">ou</supplied> <lb/>
            shall send for, wee charge &amp; Com<ex>m</ex>and to attend you accor<supplied reason="damage">dingly</supplied> <lb/>
            &amp; giue there best assistance for this our seruice./

         <p>
            4. That besides these informations, yee shall instructe y<ex>ou</ex>r se<supplied reason="damage">lves</supplied> <lb/>
            by <ex>th</ex>e veiw of <ex>th</ex>e subsidy Roll, &amp; booke of <ex>th</ex>e Free-hold<gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            <ex>th</ex>e Countye, <ex>th</ex>e Muster Roll &amp; <ex>th</ex>e booke for Collection f<gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            poore in their seuerall p<ex>a</ex>rishes; all w<ex>hi</ex>ch wee com<ex>m</ex>and <gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            brought &amp; shewd vnto you when <del rend="strikethrough">yee shall </del> yee shall req<gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            <ex>th</ex>e same./
         </p>
         <p>
            5. In makinge y<ex>ou</ex>r Compositions w<ex>i</ex>th any yee shall not accept <gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            sum<ex>m</ex>e und<ex>e</ex>r 10 l. &amp; yee shall raise it to a greater proporti<supplied reason="damage">on</supplied> <lb/>
            according to <ex>th</ex>e ability of <ex>th</ex>e party Compounding, wherein <gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            generall we direct. That hee <ex>tha</ex>t is sett at lands in <ex>th</ex>
                <supplied reason="damage">e sub</supplied>
                <lb break="no"/>
            sidy booke shall pay at least <ex>th</ex>e rate he is sett at twice <gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            halfe, &amp; hee <ex>tha</ex>t is assessed in goods to pay at <ex>th</ex>e least d<gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            <ex>th</ex>e rate att w<ex>hi</ex>ch hee is assessed. Vid<ex>elicit</ex> if att xx l. lands <gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            50 l. &amp; if att xx l. goods to pay forty pounds, &amp; so in the <lb/>
            proportion./

            6. If yee find any who hath a lesse proportion of reuenew in lands <lb/>
            yet enough to charge him according to <ex>th</ex>e law, &amp; hee hath a better <lb/>
            estate in goods or other personall estate. yee shall then haue respect <lb/>
            to his entire estate, both reall &amp; personall, in making y<ex>ou</ex>r Composition. /
         </p>
         <p>
            7. In makinge these Compositions yee may guide y<ex>ou</ex>r selues by the pre=<lb break="no"/>
            sidents w<ex>hi</ex>ch the Lords &amp; others our Comissioners haue maide here aboue, <lb/>
            <ex>tha</ex>t as nere as may bee theire bee an equallity w<ex>i</ex>th all, hauinge due <lb/>
            respects to their estates &amp; quallities: And w<ex>i</ex>th those <ex>tha</ex>t are in Com<ex>mi</ex>s<ex>i</ex>on <lb/>
            for peace yee shall not make any Composition w<ex>i</ex>th any und<ex>e</ex>r xxv l. <lb/>
            it being to bee presumed <ex>tha</ex>t they are all of good estate answerable <lb/>
            their vnto./ 
         </p>
         <p>
            8. For y<ex>ou</ex>r better directions w<ex>i</ex>th whome you are to deale in this case, yee <lb/>
            are to take knowledge, <ex>tha</ex>t all Barronets whoe were not knighted <lb/>
            att our Coronation or before, all knights who haue receiued <ex>tha</ex>t <lb/>
            ord<ex>e</ex>r since <ex>tha</ex>t time, all who haue lands or rents to forty p<ex>oun</ex>ds yearly <lb/>
            valew although held in soccage, or though held of a Com<ex>m</ex>on p<ex>er</ex>son <lb/>
            or of vs by a meaner tenure all who haue but an estate of  <lb/>
            free-hold for life only are lyable to this fine./
         </p>
         <p>
            9. If any shall refuse, or neglect to come before you <lb/>
            or when they are come to make agree<ex>men</ex>t w<ex>i</ex>th you on our be=<lb break="no"/>
            halfe, you shall certefie their names, &amp; places of habitation/.
         </p>
         <p>
            10. If any shall alledge they haue already Compounded &amp; payde <lb/>
            &amp; shall shew <ex>th</ex>e Tallye or Constat they are to be discharged, or <lb/>
            if they shall alledge they are not yett returned by <ex>th</ex>e Shreiffs <lb/>
            or shall make any other excuse, or giue any reason for theire <lb/>
            discharge or refusall, you are to certefie <ex>th</ex>e same particularly <lb/>
            w<ex>i</ex>th <ex>th</ex>e names of <ex>th</ex>e parties &amp; their seuerall allegations to <ex>th</ex>e <lb/>
            lords our Commissioners residinge here, <ex>tha</ex>t vpon consideration  <lb/>
            had thereof, such further course may be taken concerninge <lb/>
            them, as shalbe agreeable to law &amp; best for our seruice. /
         </p>
         <p>
            11. When any doth Compound w<ex>i</ex>th you <add place="above">you</add> shall eith<ex>e</ex>r receiue those monys <lb/>
            in hand, or appoynt them a short day when to pay <ex>th</ex>e same, w<ex>hi</ex>ch shalbe <lb/>
            w<ex>i</ex>thin 10 days after, to be payd to such of you as wee shall appoynt <lb/>
            to be our Collector, &amp; yee shall make a certificate thereof <lb/>
            also particularly to our Lord Treasurer or to our Court of Ex=<lb break="no"/>
            chequer vnd<ex>e</ex>r y<ex>ou</ex>r hands, or <ex>th</ex>e hands of two of you att <ex>th</ex>e least  <lb/>
            not being our Collector, &amp; <ex>th</ex>e Acquittances of our Collector testi=<lb break="no"/>
            fiing <ex>th</ex>e receipt thereof, shalbee theire discharge who pay <lb/>
            <ex>th</ex>e same./
         </p>
         <p>

            12. The monys beinge receiued, y<ex>ou</ex>r Collector is to send <ex>th</ex>e s<gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            vnto our receipt, w<ex>i</ex>thin 10 dayes after it is receiued for <gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            Counties neere hand, for <ex>th</ex>e North &amp; more remote Counti<supplied reason="damage">es</supplied> <lb/>
            Thirty days to be payd to <ex>th</ex>e hand of Edward Crane <unclear reason="damage">E</unclear>
                <gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            one of our Tellers their./

         <p>
            13. Yee shall certifie vs or <ex>th</ex>e Lords of our Councell, or <gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            Lord Treasurer from tyme to tyme, of y<ex>ou</ex>r proceedinge <gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            often as you shall haue cause &amp; oportunity, but <ex>th</ex>e <gap reason="damage"/> <lb/>
            it selfe to bee returned as is thereby directed./
