Marquisse Huntlyes Oath to the Covenanters.

I doe w[i]th all my heart acknowledge the confession of faith sworne, and subscribed Anno 1580. & 1581. Sweare to the reformed Religion according as it was then professed in this church of Scotland both in Doctrine, & Discipline. And as touching any Novations since intro-duced, either in [th]e worshippe of God, or Governm[en]t of the Church as they haue beene by [th]e late Assembly (indicted by the Kings Majesty holden at Glasgow in Novemb. 1638.) declared to be abjured by the said Confession, & [tha]t they ought to be re-moved out of this church, so I acknowledge, & re-ceiue the Determination of [th]e said Assembly therin. Promising, & swearing by [th]e Greate Name of the Lord my God, & under all the paines contained in the Law, that I shall w[i]th all my power assist, & concurre in this cause of defending Religion, the Lawes, & Liberties of this Church, & Kingdome. And that I shall endeavour by all the meanes I can for promoving the same. In verification wherof I haue subscribed the pr[e]mises w[i]th my hand./.
